Please help! Can I dye a silk dress with "Rit"?

I have a white 97% silk 3% spandex, dress that I wish to dye to a very pale pink. I've heard I could use "Rit". Have anyone has tried it on silk? Would you recommend using the washing machine method or stove top? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!
