Can i wear my husbands ACU in public with out the patches?

Im a Army chick. The military standards for clothing is very high, when a soldier in my unit came to formation with their uniform messed up in any way they were chewed out. In public other soldiers and commanders would maybe say something to you. As a soldier if i saw this I would not like it at all, I would save this for in the home just around family.
